The Center for Preclinical Research (ZPF) is a central institution of the Medical Faculty of the Technical University of Munich. We develop and establish research models for the treatment of diseases, such as in the fields of oncology (cancer research), cardiology, neurology, ophthalmology and orthopedics. These models are used to investigate new therapeutic strategies and diagnostic procedures for serious medical conditions.

Cancer remains one of the most important challenges of our time. Continuously, the average number of the population that will develop cancer during their lifetime continues to rise. Our mission as the Core Facility of the faculty and of TranslaTUM, the unique platform for close and overarching, "translational" collaboration between research, technology and practice at the Munich site (https://www.translatum.tum.de) is to support translational research in its multidisciplinary approach against cancer with our services, so that new therapeutic options can benefit patients in the clinic as quickly as possible.
